How do I unlock the phone?
Only the parent can unlock. Enter your PIN or use Face ID from the lock screen. Kids cannot exit a mode on their own — that's the whole point.
I forgot my PIN. What now?
For your security, your PIN is stored only as a one-way hash on your device, so we can't look it up or reset it for you. You can use Face ID if you set it up. If you're fully locked out, email us and we'll walk you through recovery options for your device.
Which modes are available?
Five presets: Toddler (most restrictive — you pick the few apps allowed), Young Child (approved apps only), and three teen bands — Pre-teen (10–11), Tween (12–13), and Teen (14–16) — each one looser than the last. Every preset is a starting point you can fully customize per child.
What's the difference between Peasant and Family by Blood?
Peasant ($0.99/mo) covers one phone with all three lockdown modes, PIN/Face ID, app blocking, and funny alerts. Family by Blood ($9.99/mo) adds a second parent account, tamper alerts, scheduled modes, usage reports, location ping, and multiple child profiles.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through the App Store. Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, tap Kid Defense, and choose to change or cancel. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Does Kid Defense collect my child's data?
Kid Defense is a parent-facing app with no child accounts. Your PIN, app selections, and mode settings stay on your device. For full detail on what does and doesn't leave your phone, see our Privacy Policy.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running a recent version of iOS. Kid Defense uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls features, which you'll be asked to approve on first launch.
